Bookworks from Plurabelle Books
Bookworks here, putting an end to flat stationary and boring reports. We propose the venerable form of the book for messages or utterances traditionally presented on a simple spineless card, letter or stapled report.

Plurabelle Bookworks. Books where there were none before. We create and produce custom books for your very special text or occasion. Sometimes stationary or a stapler is just not enough, and a proper book may be what you require. Books are more difficult than cards, but more rewarding too. We will discuss with you a comprehensive project including the paper, the cover, the text, the font, the illustrations, the display, the distribution and even the review. We offer unique designs based on an intimate familiarity with the traditional book-arts, combined with an easy pen, which helps to emphasize the special occasion. Beautiful and important, our books infallibly make a great impression, and a great press release, if you want the publicity. We do not print in color, but the papers we suggest will be more expressive than colored ink.

Every book from our workshop is designed as a unique object. If you have a particular message, or if you need something for those who already have everything, - often a book is the correct answer for those who are not afraid of intellectual achievement. This book can serve as invitation, as memorial, as a souvenir or as an unforgettable gift for your guests.

It can be the presentation of a project for your illustrious clients, the proper guise for a valuable report or the celebration of an important achievement. We look forward to develop a project with you in close collaboration, combining the best of Gutenberg’s art with contemporary or post-modern accents. Our special features in format, binding, and the innovative use of materials (celluloid, plastics, antique wood, stone, electronic components, botanical samples, etc) will amaze your readers.

Original letterpress printing available. Re-use of original antiquarian printwork a specialty. Titles can be registered for ISBN. International distribution through the internet book-trade. Multilingual services and footnotes. Sentences without verbs.

References and samples are available on request. Perhaps you have seen the little Grano Duro booklet we have created for Joe’s Restaurant in Venice CA. This project involved placing the book in the room of the restaurant, in the envelope of the mailing, on the pages of the menu, on the plate itself and in the culinary community at large. Design and discourse: making books the proper way includes both. Our own background in bookselling, second-hand and antiquarian, and many years conducting academic research in history have qualified us for both. Being a published book historian and an academic teacher of book history we are looking forward to share our expertise with you.

Please get in touch to discuss your requirements. We envision a process of close collaboration and joint invention. Our work will be conducted in three stages, project, proof & delivery, and compensation will become due as we progress. Please get in touch with Dr Michael Cahn at 310 395 2593 or 310 752 3177 or email us @ cahn@history.ucla.edu. We were also exhibiting at the 2007 UCLA / LA Times Festival of Books.
