Germaniae Antiquae Libri Tres.
Author: Cluverius, Philippus
Publisher: Lugduni Batavorum: Elsevir 1631.
Description: Large contemporay vellum binding, 6 bands, large blindstamped floral ornament to front and back, in excellent condition. Engraved frontisp and titlepage in excellent condition with large margins and one old name in ink, but sadly lacking the promised maps. Page ***4v has the bottom of the page covered with unprinted paper, most likely to cover up the listing of plates. However, the are no visible traces where maps may have been removed from the binding. Also, the unprinted paper covering the bottom of ***4v marginally shows a faint colour spray that was applied to edges at the time the binding was completed. Tiny dots of blue color are also visible on a the margins of a few other preliminary pages. This indicates to us that already at the time of binding this volume is was a plate-less copy. With the appendix Vindelicia et Noricum. Half-title present, two free endpages front and back, a delightful copy. Because of shrinkage due to age boards do no longer close fully
