Description: This is a 7 page score with a lithographic colour title page featuring a group of black people dancing. It is bound in a volume of piano scores bearing the name Clara Jane Elgar, in Deal (Kent) 1863 in pencil. This helps with dating the item. The plain cloth binding includes about a dozen different scores, including The Royal Marriage Polka, multiple pieces by J T Stone (With Verdure Clad, Perles Melodieuses 2x), Steven Glover (Grand Parade March, The Merry Polka, The Sweet Briar Polka) Coldstream Band March, The African Quadrille; The Lancer's Quadrilles, etc, Many of the other pieces show marginal water damage, some pages are even torn, but the Dixie's Land Polka is in good condition, being bound towards the middle of the volume. the score does not bear a plate number, Worldcat lists a single copy at Univ of Virginia
