Description: 176p this is the complete issue for September 1914, containing seven papers on Cerebro-Spinal Fluid by Cushing, Weed and Wegefarth, rebound in plain burgundy cloth with gilt lettering to spine, original card cover bound in, name of Howard Naffziger in pencil to original cover, name stamp of Eugene Stern to endpaper, text with old pencil underlining to a good number of pages, illustrations, some folding, some with colour, first page has suffered a lateral cut which many years ago was repaired with a piece of archival tape. This copy has been used once only (pencil annotations) but is still fresh and tight and well preserved. Original Cushing item with interesting provenance: Naffziger (*1884) was a noted neurosurgeon, having worked with Cushing in Boston (Fulton 366), and later led the Department of Neuroscience at the San Francisco Medical School until 1952. Stern headed UCLA neurosurgery for over 30 years (until 1987). He was a Cushing Medalist of the American Association of Neurologic Surgeons and received many other professional honors in his field.
